Yahoo Number 1 in Japan

Yahoo!has retained its dominant position as Japan’s number one web property with more than 41 million visitors for the month of August, this is according to new research by comScore.

Google came in second position with its combined sites attarcting just over 30 million unique visitors.  Microsoft came in third at just over 29 million unique visitors for the month of August.

ComScore-Japan MD Maru Sato commented: “Since our first official ranking in June, we have seen Yahoo!, Google and Microsoft sites remain unchanged as the top three properties in Japan.”

According to comScore, Wikipedia was one of few top ten sites that experienced a significant increase in unique visitors month on month seeing a 3% increase to just over 19.5 million unique visitors for the month of August. 

Other top ten internet properties included Amazon, which received just under 18 million unique visitors in August.
