Google Launches Bookmark Sharing - Shared Stuff

Shared Stuff Launched by GoogleGoogle has launched “Shared Stuff”, a bookmark sharing service.

Much like Yahoo’s del.icio.us, Shared Stuff allows people to share their bookmark links with friends and family.

To share sites with others, users can drag a “share” button onto their computer browser toolbar and proceed to share sites with other computer users.

As well as posting favourite links on the Shared Stuff page, the new Google service service also allows users to email the links and webpage previews to contacts as well as sharing them on social networking sites such as Facebook and MySpace.

The service also has a page that lists all the most popular links and allows users to subscribe to rss feeds that alert users when new links have been posted.

On an official Google Blog, Ionut Alex Chitu said: “Overall, the service adds the social component to Google Bookmarks and integrates a lot of ways to share content online.

“It will be interesting to see if Google manages to build a community around the new service and if you can rely on it to find and disseminate what’s cool on the web.”

Shared Stuff is meant to compliment Google Bookmarks, another service that allows search engine users to highlight their favourite websites and add labels and notes to them.
